LOVE. WITH. THEM!!!! Sure, they aren't as soft as knitted ones, but wayyyyyyyyyyyy faster, and really nice. I can see why people prefer them. I am using the Ultimate Crocheted Sock pattern, and although it took me a minute to figure out the mistake in the heel turn, it turned out and I am at the heel of the 2nd one, total of 2 freakin days!!!!!!! I made them in Nyoni, so they have silk and mohair in them so they are super soft anyway, so I guess you will have to be super choosy what you crochet them in so they are soft enough. I used an E hook and they were perfect for my size 10 feet. My 5 year old son wants a pair now so I will probably make him the smaller size in a cotton with alot of elastic in it.

a new scrap page:
http://www.scrapbookflair.com/rhi/Mystic/page1

Migraines

So today I go in for an MRI to make sure I don’t have an aneurysm or anything, and I’m scared shitless, to be honest. So of course I am going to be nervous until the results of that, but at least I have FINALLY found a doctor that is actually helping me with these migraines.

Onto the socks. For SKA on Ravelry, this month we had to choose underappreciated patterns, which meant that they had to have under 15 projects made. Which is sooo cool! There are so many talented designers that just do not get their credit. I chose a pattern from GoddessKnits that I had purchased but then changed my mind because I just adore toe-up (thanks Wendy) but I am not skilled enough to really convert cuff down patterns (or I’m just lazy, which is more like it)….so my first choice is Bleuet Socks by Nicole Masson, and I’m using Mountain Color Cherub. I’ve only gotten the toe done on one sock so far, but I’m doing them tandem but on different needles.

This past weekend Hubs took us on a drive around Long Island, and although the place is growing on me slowly, I have to admit, there is some amazing scenery here.

That’s it for now

New Addition!

This is our new rescue kitty “Opie”. I am a purple girl afterall! Plus a Buddy to match, and some yummy sKnitches Bebop yarn in Preppy. Also, he took me for a weekend to Foxwoods Hotel and Casino in Connecticut. Of course Friday night we gambled, (I came3 out $40 ahead, hubby lost an amazing unmentionable amount)…the next day, he took me to Mystic (yep, THAT one)…and they have a little shopping place called Olde Mistick Village and I crazy shopped. Not for me….but for my kiddo and my mom, but we did sneak in some fudge for us ;) And no shopping would be complete without YARN, so we found Mystic River Yarns and I bought this Berroco Yarn and it’s metallic and yummy and $16 so on the cheaper side but really nice and unique. I also bought an Addi Lace needle, and some Berroco Comfort yarn in a nice variagated, but has anyone felt this yarn? It’s 50% nylon and 50%acrylic, yep, acrylic, and one of the softest yarns I have ever felt…I’m anxious to see if it feels good knitted up too!

So I had a wonderful yarny anniversary and I love my hubs more today than ever.

Leaving

I am leaving for PA in the morning, and all I can think of is: do I have all my knitting packed? Next weekend Hubs is driving up from KY and we are driving back down together and me and my son will stay with him in a hotel until he finishes his school. Lots of knitting time, which I'm thankful for because I made a resolution to knit a pair of socksper month. My dad has no internet, so it will be reading and knitting (what? No Ravelry?) I was hoping to make a knitting time at Panera or the feb. She did good with keeping a secret and I never suspected anyone, I'm terrible at that stuff. First, I read the note she included and her name is Paula and she lives in CA! She also included a present for my kiddo (you don't notice him in the pic off to the right ok?) He loved his present which was a little truck with a wagon and a tractor and he was on cloud 9 the rest of the day, he loves those cars! The yarn is soooooo nice, and kinda reminds me of Lorna's, but isn't, and offhand, I cannot remember the name of it, but I asked her about it, so maybe she'll fill me in on where to get MORE ;)
I got a yummy candle, hand lotion, and some tea too......but the coffee was local and I had a cup tonight, it was mmmmm mmmmm goooooood. Finally, Knitting Rules by the Harlot. I have wanted this book forever, but seem to never pick it up. As we walked in, I quickly snapped up the new Stitch n Bitch Calendar for 2008 ;) Since I am a new sock knitter and obsessed with collecting patterns, I bought the Interweaves favorite Socks book, and of course, went to stalk magazines in hopes that my local B&N could just once carry something in advance (Interweave Holiday issue)..nope...BUT, both of the British mags I love were in so I picked up Knitting and I just love that magazine. I have noticed that British magazines seem to include ALOT of articles and designs by American writers/designers, whereas the US magazines seem to stick with American fads and such. I like knowing what other parts of the world are knitting darnit! Also...they include gifts...with every issue, every freakin month issue. DO YOU HEAR THIS AMERICA??? They publish their magazines EVERY MONTH! And that just rocks! Thank you for sharing your magazines with us *Love*

On the WIPs...I have put the Wicked on hold for the everly loverly socks *Yummm*

Doesn't this yarn just scream Autumn? It is from Thank Ewe and I love it!

Okay, onto something else...I remember when I was really new to the online knitting community and I would hear people say how much they loved The Loopy Ewe, and I would go there and check things out, figure I would NEVER be able to knit socks and then leave. I was wrong, and I'm glad I decided to buy from there. Sheri goes out of her way to give excellent service. Both times I have ordered so far, my order went out the next day. I have not even even heard from Amazon or KnitPicks, and I ordered from both the day BEFORE The Loopy Ewe. C'mon folks...I LOVE LOVE LOVE KP...but sheesh. Excellent service, friendly, fast...gets my money next time ;) Okay, I don't usually bitch this much because basically, I love knitting, I love books and I love yarn. Period. PMS...need I say more?

Update on Wicked...

Well, tonight, I finished up 2 hats for my hubby in black, yeck! So I bought the yarn, and then waited for the yarn, and then purchased the pattern, and well...I was scared!! I finally bit the bullet and swatched and was way off, so I went up to a size 9 on my Options. So last night was my official start of Wicked and let's say, I am now in love with the Zephyr Girls and vow to make everything they ever design! If they can design a sweater that *I* can knit, well...let's leave it at that. It's so easy! Aside for the crossovers that I frogged and reknit as just a p2k2 ribbing for the neckline, it's going great from there! It's done with three strands and an N hook, but I shoulda went up a hook, or maybe even a Q because it hurts my hands to work on for long periods of time, so I switch to my socks when they start to hurt.
